COMPANY BACKGROUND:

The Tensar Corporation manufactures uniaxial and biaxial geogrids, geonets, and geocomposites. These products are manufactured by either the Tensar or the Netlon processes, or created by bonding these products to other polymeric products.

These products are marketed through engineering branded systems as:
SIERRA® - Slope Retention Systems
GENESIS® - Highway Wall Systems
MEAS® - Retaining Wall Systems
PRISM® or DIMENSION® - Foundation Improvement Systems, and
SPECTRA® - Pavement Improvement Systems.

Uniaxial and Biaxial Geogrids:

Geogrids are manufactured by the Tensar process. Uniaxial geogrids are manufactured by precisely punching and stretching very thick, continuous sheets of a special grade of high density polyethylene in the direction of sheet extrusion causing punched holes of various shapes to elongate forming generally elliptical apertures of up to 12 inches in length. These products are the strongest to the Tensar products.

Biaxial geogrids are manufactured by precisely punching and stretching continuous sheets of polyethylene, polypropylene, or a polypropylene/polyethylene co-polymer both in the direction and cross direction of sheet extrusion causing punched holes of various shapes to form rectangular apertures, 1 inch or larger. These products exhibit high tensile strength in both directions within their two-dimensional plane.

The Tensar Corporation markets it geogrids in the transportation, commercial and industrial site development, natural resource extraction, coastal and waterway protection, and the waste and chemical management industries.

Geonets and Composites Products:

Geonets are manufactured by the Netlon process. The process extrudes mid-to-high density polyethylenes through a set of concentric counter-rotating dies causing the extruded polymer to form a cylindrical tube of mesh or netting, which in cross section normally appears as two overlaid sets of parallel polymer filaments, with each set turned relative to the other and fused to the other at each point of overlap.

Composite products are manufactured by permanently bonding combinations of the above products to other polymeric products, such as sheet or textiles, on one or both sides.

The Tensar Corporation markets these products primarily to drain ground water in reinforced earth and foundations structures and to collect leachate in landfills. Composite products also have a variety of other applications.
